Not every masterpiece begins according to plan.

What was intended to be a beautifully swirled Sorrel & Charcoal Soap took an unexpected turn when the batter accelerated far more quickly than anticipated. The design was lost, huge gaps formed, and what could have become a moment of frustration and premium tears, became an invitation to create.

Rather than seeing a failed batch, I chose to see possibility.

The bars were set aside, not discarded. As I began reimagining them, something unexpected happened. Creativity emerged in ways I had never experienced before. Designs I had never planned began to take shape, and what started as a soapmaking challenge became an opportunity to discover a new artistic expression.

Piece by piece, those very bars were transformed into the Sorrel & Charcoal Terrazzo and Confetti designs you see today.

Looking back, I can honestly say I am grateful for every part of the journey. This collection not only transformed a batch of soap, it revealed skills, creativity, and confidence that had been waiting to emerge all along.

More importantly, it reminded me of a truth I hold dear: God wastes nothing.

Just as these soaps were transformed, they remind me of how God takes what appears broken, imperfect, unfinished, or unexpected and transforms it into something beautiful. What could have ended in frustration became a testimony of redemption, creativity, and grace.

The Beauty from Ashes Collection is a celebration of that truth.
